- Line an 8x8 inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal.
- In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, combine sweetened condensed milk, peanut butter, chocolate chips, butter, and salt (if using).
- Stir frequently until butter is melted and the mixture is smooth. Reduce heat as needed to prevent burning.
- Bring to a gentle simmer, stirring constantly for 5-7 minutes, until slightly thickened and glossy.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Pour mixture into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle with chopped peanuts (optional).
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until firm.
- Lift fudge from dish using parchment paper overhang. Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
Store leftover fudge in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate chips. You can also add a pinch of cinnamon or other spices for a unique twist.
