- Place potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil over high heat.
- Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until potatoes are easily pierced with a fork.
- Drain the potatoes well.
- Return potatoes to the pot. Add butter, milk, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
- Mash with a potato masher or electric mixer until smooth and creamy. (Optional: Stir in sour cream/crème fraîche).
- Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Add more milk if a thinner consistency is desired.
- Garnish with fresh parsley (optional) and serve immediately.
Notes
For extra flavor, roast the garlic cloves before mincing. You can also add other herbs like chives or thyme.
