  • 1 4 cup Packed Light Brown Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 2 teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
  • 1 4 teaspoon Ground Allspice
  • 1 4 cup Lemon Juice
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter cut into small pieces
  • 1 recipe Pie Crust Your favorite recipe, or store-bought

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. Gently toss to coat the apples evenly.
  3. Stir in the lemon juice. This helps prevent browning and adds brightness.
  4. Pour the apple mixture into your prepared 9-inch pie plate.
  5. Dot the top of the apple mixture with the small pieces of butter.
  6. Carefully place the top crust over the filling, crimp the edges to seal, and cut several slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly. Let cool completely before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use a combination of apple varieties. Consider adding a tablespoon of apple cider for extra depth. You can also add a sprinkle of coarse sugar to the top crust before baking for extra crunch.
